In 2012

Back in 2012, I started working as a pest control technician for another company. I loved helping people and learning everything I could about pest, termite, rodent, and weed control, but deep down, I knew there was no room to grow.

By 2018

By 2018, life was changing fast. Cynthia and I had 2 kids and were expecting our 3rd, and I wanted to give them a better future — something more stable, something we could build as a family. That desire became my biggest motivation.

In 2019, with Cynthia by my side, we took a leap of faith and started Desert Shield Pest Control. It wasn’t easy — we started small, working long days and late nights, determined to build something lasting. But we knew one thing: if we focused on serving people first, the rest would follow.

Eric Rodriguez – Owner & Founder

I’m Eric, founder of Desert Shield Pest Control, proudly serving Tucson and the surrounding areas. I moved here from California during high school, and ever since, Tucson has been home. It’s where I built my life, raised my family, and started this business with the goal of oering something more personal and trustworthy than what I saw working for other companies. After over 13 years in the pest control industry, I realized that customers weren’t just looking for someone to spray and go — they wanted someone who genuinely cares. In September 2019, my wife Cynthia and I launched Desert Shield with a clear mission: to protect what matters most — your home, your loved ones, and even the environment around us. As parents of three active kids (plus a playful pup), we understand the importance of keeping homes pest-free without compromising safety. That’s why we use family- and petfriendly products, and we always take the time to explain what we’re using and why. We care deeply about pest prevention — not just to eliminate nuisances, but to create healthier spaces for everyone.

Cynthia Rodriguez– Co-Founder & Customer Experience Lead

As the co-founder of Desert Shield Pest Control, Cynthia brings over 10 years of experience in customer service and a lifelong passion for helping people. A Tucson native with a background in the medical field, she has always been drawn to roles where care and compassion are at the core. Cynthia oversees the administrative operations of the business, ensuring every client feels heard, supported, and valued from the first call to the final followup. Her bilingual fluency in Spanish and English helps her connect with Tucson’s diverse community and provide a smooth, friendly experience for all. Outside of work, Cynthia and her husband Eric stay busy raising their three kids, who are active in sports and always on the go. Despite the hustle, she finds joy in the life they’ve built—doing meaningful work as a family and serving the community they love

Nolberto Saenz – Certified Pest & Weed Control Technician

Nolberto, a Tucson native, brings over 18 years of experience in pest and weed management. Before joining Desert Shield Pest Control, he worked with two other well-known companies in Tucson. He’s certified in both pest and weed control and is known for his expert inspection skills, chemical handling, and custom treatment plans tailored to each property. Starting his career as a weed technician, Nolberto has grown into a highly knowledgeable pest professional. He values open communication and enjoys educating customers throughout the process. He's remained 100% compliant with the Arizona Department of Agriculture since day one. Outside of work, Nolberto enjoys time with his wife, kids, grandkids, and extended family—and loves beach trips to Puerto Peñasco. A die-hard UofA fan and music bu, he credits his brother Martin as his role model and inspiration. Nolberto takes pride in protecting homes and believes the best advice he can give is: “Seal every entry point to prevent future pest activity.” He’s a true team player, always lifting up those around him.
